2014 Litter - All the puppies have gone home!
The puppies were born on the morning of May 16, 2014.
On March 15, 2014, Gwen was bred to Brique de L'Ardour, an orange and white male owned by Mr. Fred Overby of Georgia.
I decided to use Brique as sire for this litter back in January of 2014. At the Epagneul Breton Gun Dog Club of Georgia's (EBGDCG) specialty confirmation show in Lumpkin, Georgia; Gwen won her age class, Best Female of Variety and eventually Best Female. She then squared off against the Best Male of the show, Brique de L'Ardour. Canadian Judge Reynauld Lefebvre took a long time making his decision, but eventually awarded Brique as Best of Winners. Later that week at the Club de L'Epagneul Breton of the United States (CEB-US) 2014 National Specialty Show in Pine Mountain, Georgia, Gwen again won her age class, Best Female of Variety and Best Female; meeting Brique again in the Best of Winners ring. Our French Judge Mr. Jacques Goubie debated and discussed each dog with his fellow confirmateurs, and Brique won again. Brique later went on to be the 2014 National UKC Best of Breed for the Epagneul Breton (above).
In the field that week, I had the opportunity to watch Brique while he ran several of his trials on wild and liberated Bobwhite Quail. Felix was even braced with Brique on a frosty morning (right). I was impressed with Brique's desire, ground coverage and style in the field. He truly is a complete Epagneul Breton.
I had an idea that breeding two of the hottest field dogs right now, and the best male and female in the country, together was a no-brainer. I approached Mr. Fred Overby and he whole-heartedly agreed. Mr. Overby kindly authored a bio on Brique here and provided a copy of his pedigree. Brique's hips were radiographed prior to import and are rated as Good.
Below are images of our litter born May 16, 2014. They are ALL orange and white males and have long gone to their new homes.
